BHETA Marketing Manager

Overview:

BHETA are a Trade Association that represents suppliers to the Housewares, Small Electrical, Home Improvement (DIY) and Gardening market, BHETA are a very proactive association and take pride in the excellent range of services and initiatives designed to help and support its members. BHETA has over 320 members who are responsible for approximately £11bn of retail sales and employ over 15,000 people. Over recent years BHETA has significantly raised its profile in the industry by delivering relevant initiatives and services for its members and developing Exclusively Housewares & Electrical, now in its 18th year, the UK’s premiere Housewares exhibition.   

We are looking to recruit an individual whose principle role will be to contribute to the delivery of the current BHETA 5-year strategic plan and development of a strategic plan for Exclusively. Retention and recruitment are the primary focus of the association and BHETA’s initiatives and services are delivered via the membership sector team supported by the membership services team. The development of membership initiatives and industry communication will be a key focus of the role.  Interaction with the membership is currently achieved via face to face contact, supported by an integrated CRM system, new website and social media. The individual will also be required to support the team at various industry events and exhibitions in the UK and abroad.

 

The candidate will have the ability to interact with a wide range of people efficiently and professionally.  They will be presentable and personable with  the ability to work as part of a small team, able to use their own initiative, have strong IT skills and good working knowledge of internet databases. The successful candidate will report directly to the Housewares Sector Director.  

Key responsibilities:

Marketing:

Delivery and development of strategic plans

Marketing campaigns to increase member recruitment and retention

Campaigns to increase member and retailer engagement 

Campaigns to support Exclusively Housewares & Electrical

Campaigns to raise BHETA industry profile e.g. lobbying

Control of marketing budget

BHETA website updates: member/market news, products, trends and BHETA events 

Implementation of annual social media programme

Design posts to sustain readers’ curiosity 

Measure web traffic and monitor SEO

Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms ensuring maximum effectiveness

Facilitate online conversations with members/potential members

New website promotion and initiatives 

Train BHETA team to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way

Event support including Meet the Buyer and Networking events

Presence at trade shows and exhibitions to promote and represent BHETA

Complete monthly Board report

Any other duties compatible with the level and nature of this post

 

Skills and attributes:

Proven work experience in a relevant industry marketing environment

Experience of cost center management

Experience and knowledge of marketing and multiple social media platforms

In-depth knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics

Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)

Familiarity with online marketing strategies and marketing channels

Excellent communication skills

Multitasking and analytical skills

Have effective and positive communication skills, the confidence to work independently and as part of a successful team

Proactive and self-motivator

Ability to produce clear and precise reports 

Highly flexible and must be able to adapt to changing priorities and conditions.  To manage competing demands, constant change and conflicting priorities on a daily operational level

Good literacy and numeracy essential and the ability to problem solve with flair

May occasionally be required to work hours outside of normal office hours and must be prepared to travel and stay away on occasions 

Working Hours

9.00am until 5.00pm Monday to Thursday

9.00am until 4.00pm Friday

Salary

£35-£45k dependent on experience
